Library Policies

This guide contains the James P. Boyce Library's policies for the circulation of items, fines, Interlibrary Loan, and facility use..

Hours of Operation

When classes are in session, the library will be open according to the hours listed on our homepage. Library hours will be shortened during summer & winter break. Please check the library homepage for updated hours. 

Holidays:

The library is closed for all institutional holidays including:

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Good Friday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Holiday (including Friday & Saturday)
  • Christmas Eve & Day
  • New Years Day

 

Identification

All library visitors must present a government issued ID card to enter the library. 

  • Per the SBTS handbook, all SBTS students, faculty, staff, and other personnel are required to have their Shield Card while on campus and must present it upon entering the library. 
  • Other members of the community must present a government-issued ID to enter the library.
  • Minors must be accompanied by an adult who meets the above requirements.

Food & Drink

The library does not permit food in the library building. Beverages must have a sealed lid and, with the exception of water bottles, are only allowed in the main floor lobby. This includes, but is not limited to, coffee, tea, and sodas. Any beverage without a sealed lid must be consumed outside of the library. 

Main Floor Conference Rooms

The library houses four conference rooms on the main floor for classes, doctoral defenses, and other SBTS affiliated programs. 

  • These rooms are reserved via the Registrar's Office. 
  • Current SBTS employees may request to reserve a room here
