Policies

This guide contains the James P. Boyce Library's policies for the circulation of item, fines, distance students, Interlibrary Loan, and use of the building.

Authorized Users

Current students, faculty, and staff of SBTS and Boyce College can borrow materials from other libraries if the material is not owned by our library.

This service is not available to alumni or guests.

Renewing ILL

InterLibrary loan due dates are set by the lending library.  Renewals may be requested, but are not guaranteed.

To submit a renewal request please email ill@sbts.edu a week prior to the due date to allow the lending library time to respond.

Returning ILL

Due dates for ILL materials are set by the lending library and printed on the book strap. This date takes precedence over your typical due dates.  Renewal requests are not guaranteed, but can be made no later than a week prior to due date by emailing ill@sbts.edu.

Please do not remove ILL book straps. Items returned without book straps may incur processing fines.

Distance students are responsible for the safe return of all books and for the return postage on all items. We recommend that you insure and track your package.

ILL books should be returned to:

SBTS Library
Attn: Distance Education
2825 Lexington Rd.
Louisville, KY 40206-2997

Turn-Around Time

Turn-around time may be as little as two days or as long as two to three weeks. Response time varies greatly depending on the type and availability of the material being requested, the delivery system being used, and the processing efficiency of the lending library.

Fees and Charges

The Library pays $100 per individual per academic year for any items borrowed through interlibrary loan. You will be charged for any fees over that amount. We will notify you via when you are approaching the Library sponsored limit.

Interlibrary loan materials are subject to the same overdue fines as items from the library.

You are responsible for all lost or damaged item replacement costs and processing fees set by the lending library.

Denied Requests

Interlibrary loans requests can be denied for a variety of reasons. If your request is denied, you will be notified by email.
