This guide contains the James P. Boyce Library's policies for the circulation of item, fines, distance students, Interlibrary Loan, and use of the building.


The Library offers guest accounts to individuals that meet any of the following criteria:

  • A student or faculty member at a Metroversity institution
    • A valid ID card issued by the institution is required
  • Paid staff at a local church within a 50 miles radius
  • An alumnus of Seminary Wives Institute, Boyce College, or The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
    • An alumnus is someone with a conferred degree as verified by Academic Records
  • Other possible qualifications are subject to approval by the Associate Librarian or Seminary Librarian


Guests accounts:

  • Must have a valid email address
  • Must provide a Social Security number as required by our Accounting Office. In the event a guest fails to return Library items, the fines incurred may be transferred to a collections agency 
  • May request items in offsite-storage at cost
  • Must maintain a $0 balance on their account
  • Expire one year after their creation after which patrons may reapply.


The following services are not available to guest accounts:

  • InterLibrary Loan
  • Remote access to electronic resources
    • Alumni are allowed remote access to the Atla Alumni database.
