Coronavirus Response

The James P. Boyce Centennial Library at Southern Seminary and Boyce College is shifting to an online service delivery model beginning Saturday March 21.

Building Access

Effective 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, all James P. Boyce Library facilities will be closed in keeping with The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary's commitment to maintain the health, safety, and well-being of our community and reduce the risks associated with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Southern Seminary and Boyce College have moved to online formats for classroom instruction for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester. With the Library discontinuing its regular operating hours for the duration of that period, the Library will continue to support all of the Boyce College and Southern Seminary classes with sufficient resources, relegated entirely to digital access and delivery formats.

Access to checking out physical items has been suspended, however, many library resources and services may still be accessed remotely.

Currently Borrowed Items

If you are able to, you can return library items through the book-drop located to the left of the library door. Returns are not required during this time. When the library reopens your items will be due shortly after. Any overdue fines incurred between March 20th and when the library re-opens will be waived.

Online Resources

Many library resources are already online. These are a few resources of which you might not be aware:

Print / Physical Resources

Access to checking out physical items has been suspended, however if you need one chapter or 10% of a book, you can request a scan of it that we will then email to you.

Interlibrary Loan / Document Delivery

Delivery of physical interlibrary loan items is suspended, but scans can be requested of SBTS print materials. Journals can still be requested through interlibrary loan as usual.

Academic Liaisons

The Library has a team of academic liaisons available to provide assistance with the teaching, research or resource needs as you finish the semester.
